ella weint

"Ella weint" (eng: Ella cries) is a book I made for my gran in summer 2016. She wrote down how she and her family were fleeing from Silesia to Germany during World War II and she gave me a copy of the text.

With my typewriter I wrote down her story and made it into this little book with a floral cover and a creme banderole.

The title comes from the story in the book. When my gran and her sister left their village they had to leave their cow Ella behind. When the waggon departed the grandmother said to the children that it looked like Ella was crying.

I used different coloured paper in pastell and textured paper with flower patterns to give the book a vintage vibe. Furthermore I used transparent paper to divide the book into little chapters.
